As we all know i am a huge fan of Pokemon Go, so when i heard the makers of Pokemon Go Niantic had released a beta version of their new game in Australia and that it was a Harry Potter game, i was pumped!
I downloaded the game as soon as i woke up yesterday morning, and got out and started playing. It is a real world location based game similar to Pokemon Go, however it also seems a lot more detailed than Pokemon Go already and its only in Beta form.
The Map for the game is beautiful, with owls flaying around in the background, you also have a little wizard avatar that indicates your real life GPS location on the map.
So basically the story goes like this, a massive calamity has occurred that has sent memories and items from the wizarding world into the real world, so the wizarding world is at risk of exposure. The ministry of magic has asked you to assist with locating things called “Confoundables” to retrieve the “foundables” aka the missing items and memories (shesh a mouthful i know, the game takes a dig at Hermione for naming these things) As you walk around the map you will encounter these Confoundables, they are tethered to real world locations so you do have to get up and get exploring.
Aside from finding confoundables, you will want to stop by the local Inn’s, Greenhouses and Fortresses where you collect food for spell casting energy, plants and items for your potions and battle monters and dark wizards for the chance to unlock rare Foundables
on top of all that you can customize your wand, Choose your Hogwarts house, make potions, use Portkeys (after walking the required distance, think eggs and egg incubators in PoGO) and uncover the secret of Grim, the man who is allegedly behind the calamity.
I think this is a super cute game for any Harry Potter fan, the characters are represented well, and you cal collect all of your favorites. Like Pokemon Go it also has a power to encourage you to get out and exploring and in turn become a fitter, happier you!
Currently the game is only available
for download in New Zealand and Australia, however it will role out to the rest of the World Soon, and when it does i highly recommend giving it a try!
